South Africa Heads to the Polls for Municipal Elections on 4 November 2026 — Have Your Say

South Africa’s next municipal voting poll officially opens on 4 November, and every citizen has the opportunity to help shape the future of our country.

Summary

South Africa’s next national voting poll officially opens on 4 November 2026, and every citizen has the opportunity to help shape the future of our country.

Each of us living within our respective community, continues to face challenges around unemployment, service delivery, corruption, failing infrastructure, safety, education, and economic growth, voters are once again being called on to reflect carefully on the leadership and political direction of South Africa.

DearSA invites citizens to participate in this public poll and share their views on whether the current political leadership has delivered meaningful progress — and whether South Africans are ready for change or continuity at the polls.

Have Your Say

South Africa has seen a steady increase in registered voters over the past three national elections:

  • 2014: 25.3 million registered voters
  • 2019: 26.7 million registered voters
  • 2024: 27.7 million registered voters

Despite this growth, voter turnout has steadily declined — from 73% in 2014 to 66% in 2019 — raising concerns around voter confidence, political accountability, and democratic participation.

As the next voting poll opens on 4 November 2026 for the Municipal Elections, South Africans are encouraged to reflect carefully on the direction of the country and the role each citizen plays in shaping its future.
