DearSA invites you to participate in shaping this decision by sharing your views on the ever growing electricity tariffs. Your comments are legally recognized and will be submitted directly to decision-makers.

What is at Stake?

  1. Financial Strain on Households: The significant increase in electricity costs exacerbates the financial challenges faced by many South Africans, especially low-income families.
  2. Economic Impact: Higher electricity costs can lead to increased prices for goods and services, contributing to overall inflation and affecting the broader economy.
  3. Lack of Consumer Consultation: The decision-making process lacked adequate public engagement, leaving consumers without a platform to voice their concerns.

What We're Advocating For

  • Immediate Review of Tariff Increases: We call on NERSA and Eskom to reconsider the approved tariff hikes and explore alternative solutions that do not disproportionately impact consumers.
  • Enhanced Transparency: We demand clear communication regarding the necessity and allocation of the increased funds to ensure accountability.
  • Public Participation: We urge the government and relevant authorities to establish mechanisms for meaningful public consultation in future decisions affecting utility pricing.
