Summary:

During a speech to the New York Stock Exchange delivered on Monday the 23d of September, President Ramaphosa stated that the Government of National Unity has a “common programme of action and national agenda”. At a meeting of the ANC’s NEC in June, he stated that “A Government of National Unity is the most viable, most effective and most powerful way of meeting the expectations of all South Africans at this particular moment”. Given that the ANC has stated in its policy documents that compromise is often necessary to reach the final goals of the revolution, the question arises as to those points where the GNU might differ from the goals of the ANC.
