The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has issued a tender to acquire 120 new horses — even after being found guilty of animal neglect and having 69 horses seized by the NSPCA for severe welfare violations.
This raises urgent questions about accountability, animal welfare, and the misuse of public funds. How can a state department, previously condemned for cruelty, be allowed to spend taxpayer money on more horses — without proof of reform or proper oversight?
DearSA is calling on all South Africans to demand transparency and accountability before another rand is spent.
Add your voice today to call for an immediate investigation and suspension of the SANDF’s horse tender until clear welfare compliance and independent monitoring are in place.
Together, we can stand for humane treatment, fiscal responsibility, and justice for South Africa’s animals.
